- Eczema is an itchy rash, often accompanied by small blisters that can weep.
- There is a familial link, along with an incidence of hay fever and/or asthma.
- Breast milk is best for those infants who are ar risk from
a genetic predisposition.
- Exposure to sunlight's UV-B rays can be helpful.
- A deficiency in EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids) especially gamma-linolenic acid
(GLA) - found in Evening Primrose Oil.
- Many naturopaths believe that hypochlorhydria (insufficient
production of Hydrochloric Acid) may be the underlying cause of some cases of
eczema. We also think that intestinal permeability (gut problems)
may be the underlying cause of some cases of (atopic) eczema. Some people get
eczema from allergies.
- Natural substances found useful include plain yoghurt (applied to the skin),
green barley grass, royal jelly, fish oils, borage oil, flaxseed oil, olive
oil. Topical oils include emu oil, neem, lavender and T-tree oils.
- Try applying raw potato, or rhubarb juice to alleviate the itch.
- Oatmeal baths (run the warm-hot water through a sock full
of oat meal) can provide relief from the itching. Apply a moisturising cream
after your bath to avoid skin dryness.
- Homeopaths are most interested in eczema cases, taking note of all previous
symptoms and treatments.
- Select a supplement from the following recommendations for your country (clicking
