  • If you are seeking to gain weight, you first need to satisfy yourself that you haven't recently lost weight inexplicably. If so, you need to see a doctor to determine why.
  • You also need to seriously ask yourself why you think you need to gain weight, remembering that everyone is different in shape, size and looks. If you are unhappy with your appearance, are you being unduly influenced by your peer group, fashion or the media? Perhaps what you are, and who you are, is better that you think - and many other people are envious of you!
  • Gaining weight can of course be achieved through illegal use of drugs, such as anabolic steroids. Please don't do this.
  • It is possible to gain weight unhealthily - becoming fat by eating too much junk foods or high energy foods, with little or no exercise. Please don't do this either!
  • The healthiest way of gaining weight is to gradually increase muscle mass, through carefully designed varied exercise (eg heavy weights and low repetitions), healthy eating (see Healthy Eating Checklist) and, if you can afford them, special food supplements.
  • Select a supplement from the following recommendations for your country (clicking the hyperlink refers you to a suitable supplier). Look for products with the following ingredients: Creatine, Glutamine, whey protein.

Rarely is one product suitable for every body, so you will need to search for those that suit you. Professional practitioners may well prescribe "practitioner only products" after a consultation.

If the you cannot gain weight, you need to make an appointment to consult a professional health practitioner.

A naturopath considers WHY someone cannot gain weight, and then treats accordingly.
